Newport Opera House Theater and Performing Arts Center Soiree SeriesThe Newport Opera House Theater and Performing Arts Center is proud to announce the return of the popular Soirée Series!  The first Soirée of 2017 will be held this Friday, February 17th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at Salvation Café (upstairs in the loft dining room), 140 Broadway, in Newport.   The Soiree will feature Don Sanni, an exciting composer and guitarist.

Don Sanni is a composer/guitarist and a graduate of The New England Conservatory, with a degree in guitar performance.  Currently he performs solo, finger-style guitar, traveling throughout New England, New York and Canada.  Sanni was the winner of an international guitar competition in 1990, which led to a sponsorship with the Kramer guitar company. Sanni’s playing and composing has been praised in “Guitar” magazine.

A collection of his original compositions are featured on his album, “New England Soundscapes“,  a collection of solo guitar instrumentals blending classical, pop, folk, and Celtic music inspired by the sights and culture of New England.

More on Don Sanni:

” With a well-formed sense of melody, Don Sanni takes his music to both sides of the rock/fusion camp with equal musicality. He balances the raw fires of rock against the controlled dexterity of fusion, and ignites them both.”

The Opera House Soirée Series showcases the range of intimate, quality artistic performances visitors will experience in the renovated Opera House Theater.  The soirées provide guests and supporters an opportunity to interact first-hand with artists.  Last year, the Newport Opera House Theater and Performing Arts Center hosted eight Soirees, including performances of classical music, theater, dance, folk, jazz, classical guitar and a family oriented children’s program of puppetry and song.
