We hope you will join us at the Newport Opera House Theater and Performing Arts Center on Friday, May 6th from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm for our Hard Hat Happening! party. This fun-filled fundraising event will celebrate the beginning of construction to restore Newport‘s historic Opera House Theater and will be the last big event we will hold in the theater before major construction begins for its debut opening in late 2017!

It has been a long journey for the Newport Opera House since it opened in 1867 as a theater for live entertainment. Throughout its rich history, the Opera House has always been an integral part of Newport. Now as construction begins, it enters into the next phase of its rich life – once again becoming a vibrant Performing Arts Center that will bring year-round performances to downtown Newport while restoring an architectural treasure in historic Washington Square.

The Hard Hat Happening! promises to be a night of great entertainment …with opportunities to get a closer look at the wonderful architectural details and plans for restoration …to view the endless possibilities for programming in the theater … and to join with people from all across the community and state to celebrate bringing life back to our wonderful historic Newport Opera House Theater.

Join us for this fun-filled evening on Friday, May 6th. The event will be held at the Newport Opera House Theater at 19 Touro Street – in the heart of Washington Square. Please remember that every dollar you donate to the Hard Hat Happening! will be matched dollar for dollar by the State of Rhode Island through the $4.2 million Creative and Cultural Economy Bond.
